4 signs you’re not removing your makeup properly

Cleansing your face every day may seem like a basic task that people should be able to do, but surprisingly, it’s a task that many people struggle to do correctly, or worse – at all! You may have the best skincare products – but if you have a careless routine for removing your makeup, you may experience clogged pores, irritations and breakouts. So, here are 5 signs that indicate you may not be removing your makeup properly.

  1. Your skin texture has changed

If you haven’t been washing your face properly, this will have a serious effect on your skin texture, as not cleansing effectively results in your skin cells to build up over time creating a rough and uneven complexion.

2.    Increased signs of ageing

If you’re noticing signs of premature ageing, this could be as a result of you failing to remove aggressors such as makeup and pollutants that linger on your face throughout the day which ultimately contribute to the breakdown of collagen. Wrinkles? No thank you!

  1. Products aren’t working effectively

Have you noticed that your skin care products haven’t been working as well as they should be? This is due to your skin’s inability to absorb products, as your skin may be irritated and filled with clogged pores which will impact the effectiveness of the products.

  1. Your complexion is looking dull

Regular cleansing and exfoliating of the skin are an essential step to allow the natural repair process of the skin to occur.  Thus, skipping this step in your daily routine will have a negative impact on your skin’s ability to regenerate and give you skin that looks healthy and bright.

As we sleep, our skin naturally rejuvenates itself in order to promote natural cell turnover so cleansing properly is vital! So, how should you be removing your makeup? Well, you may be tempted to use a makeup remover wipe and think you’ve taken everything off but unfortunately wipes only remove what’s on the surface of the skin.

Instead we recommend double cleansing with firm circular movements to allow the cleanser to dissolve the makeup and remove any dirt or oil built up in your pores. Use an oil cleanser to remove the build-up and then finish off with a gentle gel or milk cleanser. Please also cleanse first thing in the morning to get rid of any sweat and oil which has accumulated whilst you’re asleep.

Once you start washing your face regularly and properly, we promise you’ll start to see a difference!
