PRE & POST CARE

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:

Pre care instructions are designed to limit bleeding and sensitivities during the procedure.
Excessive bleeding can result in dilution of pigment & poor retention.

Thoroughly read the FAQ, Policies, and Pre & Post Care Instructions.

• 24 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL or CAFFEINE.

• 72 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT TAKE ADVIL or other blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin or Vitamin E unless medically necessary.
• Do not work out 24 hours before procedure.

• If you take fish oil, discontinue use 7 days prior to procedure. You can resume after procedure is done.
• Avoid Prenatal Vitamins, Nutritional Shakes (Shakeology, etc), “Hair, Skin, Nail” supplements 48 hours prior to procedure.

• Discontinue Retin-A at least 4 weeks prior.
• Avoid Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion or facials for 4-weeks prior to procedure.

• Botox should be done 4 weeks prior to or  after the procedure.
• No brow waxing, tinting, or threading one week prior. It is not necessary to do your brows prior, the more hair the better it is for us to work with. We will shape your brows during the cosmetic tattoo procedure.
• Avoid booking during your menstrual cycle as it can increase your pain.
• Wear your normal brow makeup to the procedure. This will help us determine the best shape/shade for you.

• Be prepared for your brows to look a little red and a little bit darker immediately after your treatment. – don’t worry, they will soften up to 40% lighter during the healing stage. Just ensure that you plan your procedure to allow healing time around any special event if it is your first procedure. This is to ensure there are no adverse reactions after  your initial appointment.
• YOU MUST NOT BE SUN TANNED OR BURNED ON THE FACE. I CANNOT PROCEED WITH YOUR SERVICE. A sun tan/burn is injury to the skin, as the skin is healing itself it will shed all the top layers. This means the pigment will not stay. Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE, please plan accordingly.
• There is a 14 days healing period where we ask that you not be heavily exposed to sun, exercise, swim, or submerge your brows in water. We want to limit sweating whilst brows are healing. Please keep this in mind when booking your appointment.
• You will be asked to Receive or Waive the allergy test when you submit your forms. (If you have known allergies we will require you to undergo an allergy test at your consultation and then book in your procedure at least 48 hrs after the allergy test to ensure there are no adverse reactions to any product we use on you during the treatment.)

If you have know allergies, please disclose this to us at the time of  booking. If you are booking online we would require you to only book the consultation so that the allergy testing can be performed at that time and then you can schedule your cosmetic tattoo procedure from 48 hrs after.

• All your questions regarding the design of your cosmetic tattoo (colour, shape, placement etc.) will be addressed by the Artist prior to commencing your procedure. The cosmetic tattoo artist will not start the service until you have approved the design and are ready to begin. Please keep in mind, if we believe you are unfit to undergo the treatment or if we feel you won’t achieve the desired result based on the consultation we can refuse service. At bySTELLA we want both our clients and technicians to be comfortable and willing participants in the service. This will ensure that we are creating desirable results and that our procedures are safe. The Cosmetic Tattoo Artist makes the final decision to tattoo an individual at their own discretion.
PLEASE BE READY FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT.  We work on a strict schedule and allow 3 hours per appointment. This includes answering questions you may have, mapping out your brows and conduct the procedure. It is important that you trust our artistry and work. Do not book a full procedure if you are hesitant, unsure, or apprehensive about changing your natural brows.

We advise if you are really nervous to only book in a consultation and then only book when you are 100% ready for your new brows.  Everyone is a little bit nervous at first but we ensure we conduct a thorough consultation, take the time to draw out the shape, discuss colour options and growth patterns, this ensures you obtain the desired result and allows us to do our best work in creating your new brows!

We find that our clients are relaxed and ready to move forward after they have had their thorough  consultation with us.

Now that we have done the procedure.. it is up to you to take good care of your brows so that they heal properly and keep their colour. Here are some guidelines to protect your investment. Aftercare accounts for 50% or more of your end result! So be sure to follow our instructions for optimum results.

FINAL RESULTS ARE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY HOW CLOSELY YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.There is no down time for Cosmetic Tattooing, however, the area may be red and tender we recommend that you do not plan any social activities immediately afterwards. This is NOT a quick fix beauty treatment and you have to be prepared to endure all the healing stages of Cosmetic Tattooing. Please note that your brows will appear darker and more intense than expected for the first few days (20-40% darker). They may also look thicker in shape. This is completely normal as the excess pigment is sitting on top of your skin. This will gradually fade during the healing process as your skin heals and contracts. The final results are NOT meant to stay as dark as your brows appear immediately after procedure is finished. Your brows will continue to soften to a more natural colour with 4-6 weeks post treatment.

At bySTELLA we take a more conservative approach to colour selection. We allow our clients the opportunity to build up to a stronger colour at their next visit to minimise any shock associated with their transformation. In this way we find our clients are always satisfied with their results and feel like they can go about their daily activities without feeling self-conscious of really BOLD brows.

1. Blot excess Lymph  with a clean tissue  in the next hour post treatment. ** This is important as it will prevent a build up that will cause for heavy scabbing, which in return will not give you the best colour retention.
2. Gently wash brows the night of the procedure with baby shampoo. Gently pat dry with a cotton round/square or tissue (Do not use a towel to dry brows). Once brows are fully dried gently apply aftercare ointment (2 rice grain size on each brow). Use a cotton swab or clean finger to apply the ointment, again very gently.
3. Days 2-10: Keep brows completely dry for 7-10 days. Only apply ointment in the MORNING and EVENING following the same direction listed in step 2.

DO NOT WET BROWS in any way besides when they are being cleaned in the morning or evening. Make sure to keep brows dry while showering (wash hair last, keeping head tilted back so the water doesn’t run towards your brows). Wash your face in the sink, using only a damp cloth to cleanse around the brows. Normal washing routine can be used for the lower half of your face (from the eyes down).

NO EXCESSIVE SWEATING DURING THE 14 DAYS. This is to avoid an infection in the freshly tattooed area. Remember, sweat and dirt can accumulate round the brow hair. An infection can lead to scarring and low colour retention.
NO RUBBING, SCRATCHING, PICKING at the area. Try to sleep on your back as much as possible. Rubbing the brows on the pillow/sheets can lead to premature fallout of the scabs and low retention.

• Limit SUN EXPOSURE; if you will be out in the sun be sure to wear a hat to keep them protected during the healing stage.

NO OTHER PRODUCTS ON THE BROWS for 14 days. This includes makeup, oils, soaps, or any other products.
AFTER THE 14 DAYS

Congratulations! You have survived!! You are now able to resume your normal cleansing/makeup routine.

On day 15, wash the brows very gently with baby shampoo. You may continue to use the ointment if the brows feel dry or itchy. You may also apply makeup if needed. Remember, your brows may appear very, very light and patchy immediately after any flaking. The colour will continue to darken over the next few weeks.
Days 2-4 Brows will darken as the scabs form over the newly pigmented area. They will appear VERY DARK. Don’t panic!

Days 5-7 The scabs will harden and fall off in small to medium chunks. The fronts and tails of the brows usually fall off first. Let the scabs fall off on their own! DO NOT PULL THEM OFF!!

Days 8-10 The brows will look very, very light after the flaking comes off. This is normal!
Days 14-28 The brows will continue to darken each week, and will appear patchy at times. Again, this is normal. It takes about a month for the brows to fully heal. Any adjustments to the brows will be done at your follow-up, so don’t forget to book!

** This timeline is typical, but not definite. If your brows take a little longer to heal, don’t worry. Every skin is different.

CLEAN and gently EXFOLIATE the brow area once a week once fully healed (after 4 weeks) to maintain the brows looking fresh. Remember, the pigment is underneath the skin, and if you let dead skin cells build up over the area, the pigment will appear dull and very light. Keeping the skin in the area moisturized will also help the tattoo appear vibrant and dark!
