3 ways to tackle stubborn skin texture

It’s no secret that over time, the texture of our skin naturally changes due to hormones, sun-damage, poor diet and lifestyle choices, and reactions to specific ingredients in products. The unfortunate side is that uneven texture is almost impossible to cover up!

Dead layers of skin can build up over time which gives a rough and bumpy texture making your skin appear uneven and affecting its overall smoothness. Fortunately, there are several at-home and professional remedies that can help tackle stubborn skin texture, here are our top three!

  1. Add Vitamin C into your daily skin care routine

Whether it’s a vitamin C infused serum or moisturiser, adding vitamin C into your daily skin care routine acts as a powerful antioxidant to help improve the skin’s texture by neutralising free radicals and to overall help reduce the appearance of scars, pigmentation and age spots. We recommend the Pure C Vitamin C mixing crystals by Cosmedix which is an age-defying mixing powder that detoxifies and brightens the skin.

  1. Dermasweep

Dermasweep is a painless and effective microdermabrasion treatment taken to the next level. It involves a special resurfacing technique that uses a unique, patent-pending bristle tip tool that lift away the top layer of the skin. This treatment can be tailored to treat a wide range of skin types and conditions. This allows for a more personalised treatment plan specific for your skin’s requirements. This treatment incurs no downtime and is recommended as a pre event skin enhancer due to its non-invasive approach to skin rejuvenation.

Skin texture and overall appearance is improved due to the combination of exfoliation, and hydration which stimulates blood flow, cleans out pores and removes skin debris, leaving your skin smoother and blemish-free.

  1. Exfoliation is key!

Your skin naturally sheds dead surface cells, but sometimes it needs a little extra help.  Exfoliating your skin 1-2 times a week with an exfoliant that contains alpha-hydroxy acids (like glycolic and lactic acids) and beta-hydroxy acids (like salicylic acid) help to churn through dead skin cells that build up over time. Which, in turn help to even out skin tone and smooth overall texture. We recommend using the Cosmedix Purity Detox Scrub that acts as a detoxification system for removing excess impurities, cellular debris and residue. Revealing smoother, brighter looking skin whilst reducing the appearance of visible pores and imperfections.

Although these tips are an effective way to combat textured skin it’s also important to note that skincare is an extension of a holistic, balanced lifestyle, and diet.
